Podgorica, Montenegro (1 June 2017) -- Press conference following 28th Cabinet session was held today, 1 June 2017, at the Press Centre of the Government.

The Government redirected to the Music Centre funds in the amount of EUR 60,000 for the purchase of two grand pianos for the needs of cultural institutions in Pljevlja and Bijelo Polje and EUR 20,000 for international guest appearances of Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra, whereas the Maritime Museum will get EUR 30,000 for the sustainable functioning of Boka Navy, Minister of Culture Janko Ljumović said at a press conference held after today’s Cabinet session. It is part of money that was previously designated for the financing of events and festivals of special significance for the culture of Montenegro.

Director-General of the Directorate for Tax and Customs Service Novo Radović announced today that the Government adopted Draft Law on amendments to the Property Tax Law, abolishing a real estate taxpayer, who is the user of state-owned immovable property based on long-term lease, to pay taxes on real estate.

“It is not purposeful to introduce tax liability to tenants of state property who concluded an agreement on long-term lease with the state, because in addition to paying the rent they would pay property tax as well. They would have two obligations towards the state – the property tax and fee for lease of real estate. It was concluded that this provision represents a barrier to business and that is not purposeful and justified to both tax and charge for lease,” Radović said.

Director-General of the Directorate of State Treasury Dragan Darmanović presented the details about the Information on the project of tax administration reform, which will be financed by a loan from the World Bank.

“The purpose of the project is to improve the capacities of the Tax Administration, the introduction of new methodologies and modes, the implementation of new software solutions for revenue collection, as well as providing better services to taxpayers,” Darmanović said.
