PM Marković meets leaders of Petnjica municipality: First section of Berane-Petnjica road to be completed by end of October

Podgorica, Montenegro (26 July 2017) -- The quality of life of Petnjica’s citizens is improving on a daily basis, which suggests that this municipality is not only declarative formed, but also to achieve its goal, that is more content and better life of inhabitants of this region,Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the meeting with Mayor of Petnjica Samir Agović and President of the Municipal Parliament Musli Kalić, organised on the occasion of the Municipality Day.

Prime Minister Marković congratulated the leadership and citizens on the Municipality Day, emphasising that Petnjica recognises new opportunities and possibilities for a higher level of social and development cohesion.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the beginning of works on the first section of the Berane-Petnjica road and stressed that it is important to complete it by the end of October. Commenting on the need for further improvement of the road infrastructure, Prime Minister emphasised that he supports the activities that should lead to the development of technical documentation for the reconstruction of the local road from Bioče to Petnjica.

The leaders of the municipality thanked Prime Minister Marković for his personal commitment to improving the situation in Petnjica and emphasised good cooperation with relevant ministries, stressing the need for the adoption of spatial planning documents. Also, Mayor Agović said that they are committed to agriculture, adding that he expects that the establishment of Agro Business Centre will additionally stimulate and help farmers.

The officials pointed out that the establishment of organisational units of state bodies, such as the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, the Real Estate Directorate, the Tax Administration and the Institute for Emergency Medical Aid, is extremely important to further improve the services and quality of life of citizens. It was agreed to intensify the activities of an urgent opening of an emergency facility to provide 24-hour medical protection to the population.

The meeting also discussed progress in the construction of a water supply system for which about EUR 450,000 were allocated. It highlighted the projects related to the provision of sports infrastructure and positively rated the projects related to the valorisation of the Radman Gorge and the Old Mosque. The meeting discussed the need for additional attention to young people and students, as well.

Prime Minister Marković emphasised that development projects in this and other municipalities in the north will be supported by the Government and him personally, and the officials agreed that the local governments have to be more agile in attracting foreign investment, that should provide a new quality, knowledge and new jobs.
