Podgorica, Montenegro (31 March 2018) -- Director of the Police Directorate Slavko Stojanović and Head of the Security Centre in Podgorica Jovica Rečević resigned, according to Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić.

"Unfortunately, the results that the Ministry of the Interior and the police Directorate achieved in the past year in dealing with criminal groups were not a guarantee that we will completely avoid the situation of innocent citizens being victims of organised crime which, according to operational data, is the case of today unfortunately murdered Radivoje Jovanović from Podgorica. Due to the worsening security situation on the territory of the Capital City and the consequences that occurred during this week, I held a collegium today with a part of the management of the Police Directorate at which Director of the Police Directorate Slavko Stojanović and Head of the Security Centre in Podgorica Jovica Rečević resigned from objective responsibility," Minister Nuhodžić stated today for Television of Montenegro.

Minister said that Prime Minister Duško Marković scheduled a session of the National Security Council for Sunday, which will be attended by representatives of all competent state bodies, including representatives of the judiciary.

"Dealing with crime can be addressed in a successful and high-quality manner with a full cooperation of the Prosecutor's Office, the judiciary and the police with an even stronger and more powerful actions of the prosecution and the judiciary. This is the only way to prevent mafia bugs and ensure the complete safety of citizens," the Minister of the Interior highlighted.
