Prime Minister Duško Marković said today at the CEEC and China 16+1 Summit in Sofia that Montenegro, as a future member of the European Union, is ready to contribute to a comprehensive strategic partnership between the European Union and China and that he expects that connection feasibility study of future Belgrade - Budapest railway with ports in Montenegro and Albania will be drafted following the Summit.

As a future member of the European Union, currently a candidate country, Montenegro is ready to contribute to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the European Union and China. We expect in the period following the Summit to explore, through the feasibility study, the possibilities of connecting the future Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway to the ports in Montenegro and Albania, as agreed in Budapest. We are additionally encouraged by a similar position outlined in this year's Guidelines, with the inclusion of ports in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia, Prime Minister Duško Marković said addressing the participants of the Summit.

The Prime Minister said that we are entering the final phase of construction of the first section of the Bar - Boljare motorway in Montenegro and that this project represents an example of successful cooperation within the 16+1 Mechanism.

The Government of Montenegro is creating the preconditions for the continuation of the construction of the remaining sections of the motorway to the border with the Republic of Serbia. In this regard, I invite you to encourage companies from your countries to express their interest in the implementation of this project in partnership with the Government of Montenegro. For this and similar capital projects, it is necessary to further strengthen the cooperation between banks and financial institutions of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the People's Republic of China, Prime Minister Marković said.

Recalling that the last year's Summit in Budapest showed the confidence to Montenegro to lead the establishment of a Coordination Mechanism for Environmental Cooperation, Prime Minister Marković announced a ministerial conference in Podgorica in September to mark the beginning of the work of this Coordination Mechanism.
