I believe that the responsibility with which the Government and the judiciary will carry out reforms in the field of the rule of law will find the equally responsible attitude of all parties in the Assembly in order to maintain good dynamics in the process of joining the European Union, Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pažin said at a meeting with the European Parliament delegation today in Podgorica.

At the time when we are entering the last and most demanding phase of accession to the European Union, we must offer the Member States and citizens of the European Union convincing arguments that Montenegro is a society in which European democratic rules apply. Therefore, it is necessary that all social actors subordinate their individual goals and ambitions to the overall goal of achieving European quality of life for all citizens of Montenegro, the Deputy Prime Minister said.

At the meeting held on the eve of the session of the EU-Montenegro Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee, DPM Pažin welcomed the high level of interest of EU institutions and Member States for enlargement policy and expressed the expectation that candidate countries' progress will be based on individual results in the implementation of reforms.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that concrete results in the field of rule of law, dynamic economic growth, which reached 4.5% in the first quarter of this year, and further strengthening of institutions, would bring to Montenegro the support of European partners for faster progress in the process of joining the European Union.

Head of the European Parliament delegation, MEP Peter Kouroumbashev pointed to the importance of the dialogue in the Montenegrin parliament and full functionality of the legislative authority for the implementation of demanding reforms on the path to full EU membership.

Representatives of the European Parliament welcomed in particular the full compliance of Montenegro's foreign policy with the EU's common foreign and security policy, as well as a constructive and responsible approach to regional policy resulting in the successful ratification of the border agreement with Kosovo.
