Podgorica, Montenegro (4 July 2016) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović traveled today to Paris, where he will tomorrow participate in the 2016 Paris Balkans Summit, at the invitation of French President François Hollande.

The summit follows the Berlin Summit in 2014 and the Vienna Summit in 2015 in order to support the Western Balkan countries in their approach to the EU by strengthening regional economic cooperation and setting a solid foundation for better connectivity and sustainable growth across the region.

Alongside the host country and the Prime Ministers of six Western Balkan countries, top officials of Austria, Germany, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the EU Federica Mogherini, EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for Mobility and Transport Violeta Bulc, EU Commissioner for Education, Culture and Youth Tibor Navracsics, and leaders of international financial institutions will also participate in the Summit.

Migration issues, cooperation in the field of security, the fight against terrorism and radicalisation, as well as the opening of the European perspective of the region will be discussed at the Summit. The Prime Ministers will adopt Declaration by the Chair, which is the opportunity to once again provide political support for cooperation of the Western Balkan countries and provide guidance for the future development of the Berlin Process.

After high-level meetings, Prime Minister Đukanović, together with colleagues from the region, will sign the Agreement on the establishment of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office of the Western Balkans (RYCO) and participate at the working dinner organised by the host French President François Hollande.
