Podgorica, Montenegro (17 May 2014) – Based on the Decision of Montenegro's Defence and Security Council  and the Directive of the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Force of Montenegro has sent forces to provide help aimed at rescuing lives of citizens and protecting the property in the flood-hit areas in Serbia.

Direct communication between the Montenegrin Minister of Defence Milica Pejanović Đurišić and her Serbian counterpart agreed on the fact that Montenegro should send five rescue teams, including diving and medical teams. Montenegro' army will be engaged in the municipality of Obrenovac, the most flood affected area.

The Government of Montenegro will deliver the funds provided by the Ministry of Defence as part of the humanitarian aid to Serbia.

Minister Pejanović Đurišić has also contacted her counterpart in Bosnia and Herzegovina Zekerijah Osmić earlier today and offered support of the Ministry of Defence and the Montenegrin army for flood-hit areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. So far, Bosnia and Herzegovina didn't ask for the assistance.
