DPM Lukšić, Ambassador Uyehara: Montenegro and USA establish good and fruitful cooperation

Podgorica, Montenegro (19 February 2015) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić hosted earlier today newly appointed US Ambassador Margaret Ann Uyehara.

The USA is a strong supporter of Montenegro's development and progress in the integration process, Ambassador Uyehara noted. She also pledged commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and achieving Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic objective.

Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić commended the continuity of good political relations and bilateral cooperation established between the two countries. At the same time, he referred to Montenegro's progress in implementing reforms and fulfilling criteria for NATO membership and he stressed the importance of further boosting economic cooperation.

The meeting also discussed mechanisms of future cooperation and importance of open dialogue the United States and Montenegro have cherished. They agreed that, in addition to all existing forms of cooperation, there is room for improving collaboration in a wide range of areas.
