Brussels, Belgium (18 May 2016) -- NATO member states will sign tomorrow the Protocol on the Accession of Montenegro to the Alliance, which will be a clear sign that the Alliance “continues to help build stability and security in the Western Balkans,” said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg earlier today at the pre-ministerial press conference in Brussels.
He added that following the signing ceremony, Montenegro will take part in all NATO meetings as an observer, or invitee.
“Once all Allies have ratified the Protocol, Montenegro will become the 29th member of the Alliance,” the NATO Secretary-General explained.
