Baku: Political consultations held between Montenegro and the Republic of Azerbaijan

Bilateral political consultations between Montenegro and the Republic of Azerbaijan were held today in Baku, led by the state secretaries of the two ministries of foreign affairs, Periša Kastratović from the Montenegrin side and Elnur Mammadov from the Azerbaijani side.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also met in Baku with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Head of the Presidential Administration's Foreign Policy Department, Hikmet Hajiyev, and the General Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Natik Hasanov.

At the meetings, it was noted that relations between Montenegro and Azerbaijan are good and friendly, and significant potential for intensifying political dialogue was recognized, with the aim of further strengthening overall interstate ties.

Mutual readiness to improve inter-parliamentary cooperation was confirmed, and modalities for intensifying economic relations were discussed. In this regard, the interlocutors assessed that the upcoming meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Montenegro and Azerbaijan would provide additional impetus to strengthening economic ties. The successful example of the "Portonovi" project in Herceg Novi, which represents a model for future investment activities of Azerbaijan in Montenegro, was also highlighted.

State Secretary Kastratović conveyed Montenegro's interest in strengthening cooperation in the field of energy, considering that Azerbaijan is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of energy, with a special emphasis on the prompt finalization of the legal framework in this area.

Satisfaction was expressed with the growing number of Azerbaijani tourists in Montenegro, to which seasonal air connectivity significantly contributed.

Discussions also covered the improvement of bilateral cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, finance, and culture, and the interlocutors exchanged views on the current regional and global political dynamics.
