Bečić: Single-day elections prevent electoral tourism

I extend my congratulations to the citizens of Montenegro on the decision to hold consolidated general local elections together with the regular parliamentary elections on 13 June 2027. For the next two years, Montenegro will be free from electoral processes, campaigns, and the constant cycle of political instability.

This will allow us to focus the full capacity of society on accelerating our path toward the European Union, strengthening the fight against organized crime, implementing the vetting process, and advancing economic development. Holding all elections on a single day helps eliminate electoral tourism, ensures greater efficiency across many areas, and provides a foundation for political stability.

I am proud that the idea I proposed several years ago has now been fully realized and that the decision was adopted unanimously by a historic majority in Parliament. I commend the members of Parliament for their responsible approach and extend special thanks to EU Ambassador to Montenegro Johann Sattler for his substantial contribution over the past weeks and months in achieving this important milestone. We continue forward in a spirit of partnership, with energy and determination. Montenegro as the 28th member of the European Union in 2028 is our shared goal!
