Deputy Prime Minister Bečić meets with EU Member States' Ambassadors

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić held a meeting today with EU Member States' Ambassadors, led by Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro Oana Cristina Popa.

Deputy Prime Minister Bečić highlighted the significant achievements of the 44th Government and the new administration after nearly six months in office. He expressed immense satisfaction with the progress made, particularly in accelerating Montenegro's European integration process. Bečić underscored that not only has Montenegro's European path been unblocked, but it has also seen considerable momentum. He expressed optimism for the future, anticipating the country's first major recognition by the end of June with the expected Interim Benchmark Assessment Report (IBAR), followed by the closure of numerous negotiation chapters by year's end.

Moreover, Bečić reiterated the paramount importance of Montenegro's accession to the European Union, emphasising that it stands as the nation's highest national interest and a historical legacy for future generations. He stressed that this goal transcends any partisan or individual agenda. Additionally, Bečić addressed the significant strides made in combating organised crime and corruption. He commended the collaborative efforts of state institutions, law enforcement, and international partners in combating these societal challenges. Bečić affirmed his steadfast support for all dedicated and principled members of the security sector and other relevant authorities.

Furthermore, Bečić concluded by reaffirming the government's commitment to tackle crime and corruption. He pledged to ensure that the security sector and state institutions are purged of any corrupt or criminal elements, emphasising the importance of upholding the integrity of these institutions.
