DPM Ibrahimović meets with Apostolic Nuncio Chullikatt: Mutual commitment to opening the Apostolic Nunciature in Podgorica

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met today in Podgorica with Apostolic Nuncio to Montenegro, based in Sarajevo, Archbishop Francis Assisi Chullikatt.
Both sides emphasized the traditionally close and friendly relations between Montenegro and the Holy See, grounded in open political dialogue and mutual readiness to further strengthen cooperation.
Ibrahimović underlined that Montenegro, as a multiethnic and multiconfessional state, deeply values the spiritual and moral authority of the Holy See and its active role in promoting peace, democracy, and human rights. He also highlighted the importance of the Catholic community in Montenegro’s cultural and social life.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to finalizing procedures and aligning the draft international agreement necessary for the opening of the Apostolic Nunciature in Podgorica.
Apostolic Nuncio Chullikatt expressed satisfaction with Montenegro’s openness to strengthening relations, stressing the importance of the regular meetings of the Joint Commission for the implementation of the Fundamental Agreement, as well as the need to complete procedures for establishing the Apostolic Nunciature in Podgorica.
Both sides agreed that their friendship, rooted in shared values of peace and solidarity, provides a strong foundation for advancing bilateral cooperation.
