Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth and Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Šćekić met today with the Ambassador of Hungary to Montenegro, H.E. József Négyesi.

The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of sports and youth, as well as on enhancing the relationship between the two nations.

Ambassador Négyesi expressed Hungary's readiness to provide expertise and any other support to Montenegro, as a friendly country with which it maintains longstanding bilateral relations, in its ongoing European integration process.

Deputy Prime Minister Šćekić thanked Hungary for its support and briefed the Ambassador on the priorities of the ministry he leads.

They agreed that demography is one of the key geopolitical issues, and all countries worldwide are facing the negative trends it brings, which have also become prominent in both Montenegro and Hungary.

As a state, we are obliged to approach this phenomenon seriously and systematically. Only through its mechanisms can the state influence the migration of young people by providing them with a safer and better future, said Šćekić.

The meeting also discussed further strengthening ties between the two countries and cooperation in the fields of sports and youth. This includes potential student exchange programmes, in addition to existing university partnerships and academic exchanges, support and mentoring for young entrepreneurs, as well as athlete exchange programmes and the organisation of training camps and workshops in the field of sports.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of Mission Mira Vuity, and the advisers to the Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth, Sanja Jokić and Maša Stevović.
