Ivanović, Arshakyan: Strengthening interparliamentary cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović held a meeting with Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan, which was also attended by Arsen Torosyan, Head of the Armenia-Montenegro Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Armenia.

During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening interparliamentary cooperation and intensifying political relations as a crucial aspect of enhancing overall bilateral ties. The officials reviewed Montenegro’s European integration process, with Vice President Arshakyan congratulating Montenegro on its achievements and positive progress toward EU accession. Montenegro reiterated its willingness to share its negotiation experiences with Armenian counterparts, highlighting the importance of institutional reforms and legislative harmonization with European standards.

Ivanović emphasized Montenegro’s ambition to close all chapters by 2026 and become the 28th member by 2028.

The officials agreed that further development of economic cooperation is of utmost importance, with a particular focus on improving air connectivity between Podgorica and Yerevan. Strengthening these connections would significantly enhance mutual mobility for both Montenegrin and Armenian tourists and foster business interactions between the two countries.

During his visit to Armenia, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović also visited the Matenadaran Museum of Ancient Manuscripts and the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.
