Montenegro continuously affirms itself as an important actor and promoter of strengthening regional ties within numerous regional organizations and initiatives. One of the key links in the ecosystem of regional organizations is the Western Balkans Fund (WBF).

The Western Balkans Fund represents a mechanism for strengthening cooperation in the region, bringing together six Western Balkan countries. Its main goal is to support projects that enhance mutual cooperation, European integration, and regional connectivity – especially in the fields of culture, education, science, and sustainable development.

At the meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials on December 17, 2025 Montenegro assumed the one-year presidency of the Western Balkans Fund.

During its presidency, Montenegro will continue to advocate for further improvement of regional cooperation through support of projects, capacity building of potential applicants and grant beneficiaries, as well as for increasing the visibility and institutional development of the Fund.
