The Ministry of Energy and Mining informs the public that, following a public call and evaluation of the submitted proposals, the law firm Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP of New York, United States of America, in partnership with the Law Office Nikčević Kapor of Belgrade, Republic of Serbia, has been selected as the highest-ranked bidder to represent the State of Montenegro in the arbitration proceedings before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in the case “Tara Resources AG v. Montenegro.”
A Commission, established by a decision of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, conducted the opening, review, evaluation, and ranking of all timely submitted bids. The Commission was composed of representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, as well as the Protector of Property and Legal Interests of Montenegro, ensuring that the process was conducted professionally and in accordance with the law.
Based on the proposal of the Commission and Information submitted by the Ministry, the Government of Montenegro reviewed and adopted the Information on the selection of the law firm to represent the State of Montenegro in the aforementioned arbitration proceedings, and gave its consent for the law firms Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP and Nikčević Kapor to represent the State of Montenegro before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
The Ministry of Energy and Mining will submit quarterly reports to the Government of Montenegro on the progress of the arbitration proceedings.
