Members of the Collegium of the European unit for judicial cooperation in criminal matters EUROJUST Nikos Ornerakis, National Member for Greece, Olivier Lenert, National Member for Luxembourg and Daniela Buruiană, National Member for Romania, visited yesterday and today the Ministry of Justice, within a wider visit to Montenegro, supported by the project IPA 2014 "Prosecutors’ Network of the Western Balkans".

After yesterday's working meeting at the Directorate for International Legal Cooperation and European Integration, EUROJUST delegation has been received today by Nikola B. Šaranović, Director General of the Directorate for International Legal Cooperation and European Integration.

Šaranović pointed out that the importance of this visit is reflected in the fact that it is organized precisely at a time when the entry into force of the Agreement on cooperation between Montenegro and EUROJUST, signed on 3 May 2016 in Brussels, is expected. EUROJUST Delegation has been informed about the activities and achievements in the field of judicial cooperation, both bilateral and multilateral, and special attention is given to the European judicial networks.

Members of the Collegium of EUROJUST congratulated Montenegrin authorities on the results achieved at the legislative level, in trainings and improving the standards of protection of personal data, which led to the conclusion and the entry into force of the Agreement on cooperation between Montenegro and EUROJUST. They expressed welcome to the future liaison prosecutor from Montenegro, who will be delegated to EUROJUST headquarters in The Hague.

Both sides agreed that the contractual arrangement with EUROJUST, as well as observer status in all relevant European judicial networks, is a value in itself, but also a prerequisite for good preparation of Montenegrin institutions for obligations from future full membership of Montenegro in the European Union.
