Visible progress of Montenegro in the field of promoting LGBTI rights commended at the Ministerial meeting in Skopje

Promoting LGBTI rights in the Western Balkans was the theme of the First Regional LGBTI Rights Conference that was organized today in Skopje.
As part of the conference, a Ministerial meeting was attended by the Director General of the Directorate for Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, Ms. Blanka Radosevic Marovic together with the Ministers of the Government of Macedonia, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the Ministerial meeting the biggest interest was expressed for Montenegro regarding the impact on LGBTI people rights in relation to other countries in South East Europe. The Montenegrin progress was praised by present colleagues from the countries of the Region.

Radošević Marović said the Montenegrin Government has taken all the necessary efforts to create a society of equal opportunities where everyone has equal access to education, employment, health and protection from any kind of violence.

The aim of the Regional Conference was fostering dialogue and exchanging the experiences between the Governments of the Western Balkans States on LGBT rights. The event was also a opportunity for further strengthening of the dialogue with other interested parties on the promotion of the rights of this population, including civil society, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, the academic community and the media.
