Information for passengers on the possibility of entry of medicament containing illegal drugs as personal therapy

Regarding to Article 43 of the Law on Prevention of Drug Abuse (“Official Gazette of Montenegro”, no. 28/11 and no. 35/13), a person crossing the state border may be in possession of the medicament that contains illegal drugs in the amount required for personal therapy for a period no longer than 30 days based on a certificate (report) from the family doctor or a medical specialist in the area of mental health.

When crossing the state border, this person is obliged to possess the certificate (report) on the necessity of the possession of the medicament. The certificate of the necessity of the possession of the medicament cannot be older than 90 days.

Also, a person crossing the state border may be in possession of illegal drugs in the amount necessary for the therapy of an animal travelling with that person, for a period no longer than 30 days, based on the certificate (report) of a veterinary medicine specialist. When crossing the state border, this person is obliged to possess a certificate (report) of the necessity of the possession of the medicament intended for the animal travelling with them, which cannot be older than 90 days, and must report this to the customs administration authorities.
