Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović said today, at an online press conference on the presentation of the proposed Budget for 2021 and the Government’s Work Programme for 2021, that the top priority of the Government of Montenegro is the rule of law. Abazović said that the rule of law is not only directly related to the fight against corruption and organized crime, but that it also implies a more equitable distribution of goods to all cities in Montenegro.

Abazović said that the Governments wants greater integration of Montenegro, which will lead to greater reconciliation.

Speaking about the document concerning Montenegro's accession to the EU in the next two years, DPM Abazović said that all legal solutions that should be adopted in the next two years are listed and that this will be a big task for the Government of Montenegro, all ministries, agencies, but also the Parliament of Montenegro.

"If in two years we manage to achieve the desired goal, which is ambitious, we will find ourselves in a situation where we will satisfy our legislative framework, that is, we will harmonize it with the EU acquis."

Abazović said that in the context of European integration and the application of the legislative framework, Montenegro's biggest problem is human resources, adding that administrative capacities must be strengthened.

"This segment is more difficult than the adoption of legal documents," said Abazović.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the priority of the Government is the protection of the environment, expressing the desire that Montenegro becomes eco-friendly country.

"That is the long-term goal of this country. That will probably be the goal of many governments in the coming period. We want to lay the foundation for that. The Government is committed to pursuing its active green agenda in 2021 and creating precondition to express Montenegro’s advantages compared to other countries in the region, Europe and the world in a special way," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Abazović said that all activities of the Government in the next two months will be dedicated to saving the tourist season.

"I think that all ministers, the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister, all directors of agencies and administrations, especially people in the health system, must make efforts to save the tourist season," said DPM Abazović.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the good season they expect, as well as the revenues from tourism, will enable realization of everything planned in the 2021 Budget and that it will enable them to declare 2022 the year of development, and to start large projects that will permanently change our country for the better.

"I urge all citizens and media employees to help us in every way to promote Montenegro in the coming period, to do everything to stabilise the epidemiological situation in Montenegro, that all those who will visit Montenegro feel safe and that it becomes a goal that we will achieve together," DPM Abazović concluded and said that officials will publicly receive a coronavirus vaccine in order to promote mass vaccination in Montenegro as an important element for saving lives and the tourist season.
