Montenegro is a reliable member of NATO, and the support of the United States is of great importance in the further process of democratisation of Montenegro. Strong democratic institutions and regional stability are the priority in the work of this Government, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović after the meeting with Deputy Assistant Secretary at US Department of State Matthew Palmer, who is paying visit to Montenegro.

Emphasising the excellent and intensive relations between Montenegro and the United States, Abazović informed Palmer about his meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in Rome.

DPM Abazović pointed out that Montenegro cherishes multiethnic and multi-religious differences and the values of a democratic state, promotes Western European values and makes a great contribution to regional cooperation and dialogue.

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer stated that the political transition is fundamental in the development of any democratic society. Palmer pointed out that the United States gives unreserved support to Montenegro on its European and Euro-Atlantic path, and that they appreciate Montenegro's contribution to the development of regional stability and peace in the Western Balkans.
