Abazović: We will call for incorporating femicide as a separate criminal offence

Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović joined today's International Women's Day March, which was organised by the Women's Rights Center on the occasion of 8 March, the International Women's Day.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that we all need to contribute to the more significant incorporation of overall equality and justice into our society. He noted that the topic of today's gathering is justified due to the events in the previous period. I think that it is our obligation to do more to sanction femicide, i.e. introduce femicide as a criminal offense in the Criminal Code. The obligation of the new Government will be, among other things, to increase sanctions for domestic violence and to promote gender equality, Abazović said.

This year's International Women's Day March is dedicated to the fight against femicide, in memory of women who lost their lives due to intimate partner violence.
