Bečić condemns disruption of film screening at Džada Festival in Podgorica

I take this opportunity to strongly condemn the disruption of the screening of the film “Roda” at the Džada Festival in Podgorica.
Zabjelo is one of Podgorica’s most vibrant neighborhoods, long recognized for its civic and cosmopolitan spirit, and for the people who have lived there harmoniously for decades – in mutual respect and with an appreciation of diversity that has always been our strength. That is why we all know that the actions of a few irresponsible individuals can in no way represent the true face of Zabjelo, Podgorica, or Montenegro.
The Džada Festival, as a space of art, culture, and dialogue, has grown into a symbol of inclusiveness, togetherness, and tolerance, and as such, it deserves full support and protection.
Albanians in Montenegro are not “others” or “different”; they are our neighbors, our friends, and our partners in everyday life. Our national, religious, and cultural differences are not a weakness, but a strength that makes us a richer and better society. That is our future, not a space for division, primitive behavior, or a return to destructive patterns of the past.
The competent institutions, once all the facts are established, will present the circumstances of this case in line with the law, just as in all other proceedings. At the same time, the clear public condemnation from all of us sends a strong message that such behavior by irresponsible individuals is absolutely unacceptable.
Our response must be unequivocal: individuals cannot and will not be allowed to undermine the spirit of Zabjelo, the spirit of Podgorica, or the spirit of Montenegro. Our society is far greater, stronger, and more valuable than attempts – from any side – to divide us.
