Bečić: Law enforcement authorities act decisively and uncompromisingly against all forms of crime

Congratulations to the Police Directorate on numerous preventive and enforcement activities, searches, seizures, and prosecutions. Over the past two years, more than 45,000 different types of checks have been conducted involving members of organized criminal groups, persons of interest, and individuals connected to them; around 7,000 inspections of hospitality establishments linked to such persons or frequented by them; approximately 1,000 searches of apartments and other premises in which they reside; hundreds of seized firearms and temporarily confiscated vehicles; as well as more than 2,600 criminal and misdemeanor charges filed against them.

Record results and continuous progress in the fight against economic crime. Over the past two years, more than 1,800 persons have been criminally prosecuted, with 50% more prosecutions in 2025 compared to 2024. In the field of tax evasion, the number of criminally prosecuted persons doubled, while in the area of money laundering, the number was three times higher in 2025 than in 2024.

In the field of environmental crime, identified as a new national priority by the National Security Council upon the proposal of the Bureau for Operational Coordination, approximately 400 persons have been criminally prosecuted over the past two years, with the number of criminal charges in 2025 being about 20% higher than in 2024.

Law enforcement authorities have been acting decisively and without compromise against all forms of crime, with no hesitation and no exceptions, reaffirming that the rule of law stands above all.
