Minister of Foreign Affairs Ranko Krivokapić received Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman in Cetinje.

The meeting stressed that Croatia is a strong advocate of speeding up the negotiation process, because it is in Montenegro's strategic interest to become the first next member of the European Union. It was assessed that it is necessary to seize the moment, because EU door is open and that it is up to Montenegro to fulfill key obligations in the field of rule of law at an accelerated pace, in order to complete negotiations with the EU.

Minister Krivokapić reminded of the importance of Croatia's support during Montenegro's accession to NATO. He pointed out that Croatia's actions have always had a strong effect on our country.

Speaking about the historical mistakes that happened in Dubrovnik, Morinj, Minister Krivokapić said that we are building new trust, while not forgetting what happened.

It was jointly assessed that the two countries are primarily neighbours, allies and partners, which will resolve all bilateral issues in the spirit of openness and political will to find mutually acceptable solutions.

The two officials agreed that relations between Montenegro and Croatia can be further strengthened by cooperation in the fields of tourism, health, energy, as well as transport infrastructure, which is important for connecting coastal tourist centres.

During their visit to Cetinje, Foreign Ministers Krivokapić and Grlić Radman paid tribute to the heroes of the Christmas Uprising by laying a wreath at the monument in Bajice. Afterwards, they visited King Nikola's Palace.
