DPM Bečić extends congratulations on Europe Day and Victory Day

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić extended congratulations on the occasion of 9 May – Victory over Fascism Day and Europe Day.

I extend my warmest congratulations to all citizens of the next EU member on the occasion of 9 May – Victory over Fascism Day and Europe Day, a date that permanently reminds us that freedom, peace and human dignity are the greatest values of modern Europe.

Today is not only a reminder of the glorious victory over the darkest ideology in human history, but also confirmation that courage, unity and faith in freedom are stronger than any violence and division. Montenegro proved this truth when it was most difficult. Among the first in occupied Europe, on 13 July, it raised the torch of resistance and demonstrated that a people who cherish freedom never accept submission. This is why 9 May is deeply woven into the identity of our state.

As we also mark the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which laid the foundations of the modern European community of nations, we reaffirm that the European idea is not merely a political project, but a civilisational choice – a choice of peace over conflict, dialogue over division, justice over force, and shared progress over isolation.

Today, Montenegro stands on the threshold of a historic goal. Following two years of reforms, sacrifice and dedicated work, our country is entering the final stage of European integration and increasingly confirms that it belongs to the family of Europe’s most developed democracies.

May Montenegro bring to the European family what has defined our people for centuries: a spirit of freedom, multiethnic harmony, natural beauty and an unwavering belief in justice.

With the conviction that the best times for our country are yet to come, I once again congratulate all citizens on Europe Day and Victory Day.
