DPM Bečić: State embarked on path of determined, systematic, uncompromising fight against organised crime

Yesterday’s actions by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office and the security sector represent yet another strong proof that the State has embarked on a path of determined, systematic and uncompromising fight against organised crime.
What we announced is being confirmed every day. Arrests, prosecutions, investigations, the dismantling of criminal networks and the narrowing of space for fugitives have become the new reality of Montenegro.
The state no longer observes crime from a distance. The State finds it, prosecutes it, dismantles it and defeats it.
We are witnessing an almost one-hundred-percent clearance rate for serious criminal offenses. In the period from 2024 to 2026, 39 murder cases originating from the current or previous periods were solved, including those resulting from clashes between criminal clans, as well as 73 attempted murder cases, while the execution of 11 serious criminal offenses was prevented.
The competent authorities are striking with equal determination against the Škaljari clan, the Kavač clan and all other organised criminal groups, drug cartels and their logistical, financial, political and institutional support networks. There are no privileged criminals, no protected groups, no untouchable individuals and no longer anyone who can count on party, police or para-intelligence protection to save them from the law.
The number of fugitives is decreasing. The number of prosecuted individuals is rising. Criminal circles are shrinking. Step by step, in accordance with the law, the system is being cleansed of criminal influences that for years tried to capture institutions, humiliate the state and intimidate honest citizens.
That is precisely why nervousness is growing within criminal ranks. That is why we are witnessing hybrid attacks, coordinated campaigns, smear tactics, pressure, attempts at discreditation and brutal attacks against those leading the fight against organised crime. When the mafia cannot stop the state within institutions, it tries to stop it with lies, filth and panic.
But those times are over.
Montenegro will no longer be a place where crime decides, the mafia gives orders and the State remains silent. Montenegro will no longer be held hostage by criminal clans, their couriers, their connections and their political advocates.
Every new blow against organised crime testifies to the fact that the State is growing stronger, that the rule of law is functioning and that Montenegro is reclaiming itself.
Step by step, decisively, lawfully and courageously toward the final victory of the state and its citizens, and the complete defeat and collapse of criminal structures that for far too long believed they could live above the law, above institutions and above Montenegro.
