DPM Ivanović: By adopting electoral reform, we strengthen democratic processes and move closer to the EU

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović welcomed today’s adoption of a package of electoral laws aimed at addressing key shortcomings of the current electoral system.
I welcome the adoption of this legislative package, which tackles the most critical deficiencies in our electoral process. By holding all elections on a single day, we ease political circumstances and shift focus to decisions of real importance, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović stated.
He emphasized that, in the context of the final phase of accession negotiations with the European Union, it is essential that core reforms receive broad political support.
I am optimistic that the consensus reached around the first iteration of electoral reform reflects a growing sense of societal maturity and signals a joint commitment to strengthening democratic processes and fulfilling obligations under the EU agenda, Ivanović concluded.
