DPM Ivanović meets with UAE Ambassador Khamis Rashed Ahmed Alshemeili

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović met today with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Montenegro, His Excellency Khamis Rashed Ahmed Alshemeili.

During the meeting, it was assessed that relations between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates are friendly and stable, with a shared readiness to further strengthen them through the enhancement of political dialogue, as well as the intensification of economic and investment cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović highlighted the importance of the United Arab Emirates as a reliable partner of Montenegro in the field of development and investments, emphasising the Government’s commitment to reforms aimed at improving the business environment, strengthening the rule of law and ensuring stable and predictable conditions for foreign investors. In this context, it was underlined that the European integration process remains a key strategic priority of Montenegro, contributing to institutional stability, economic development and alignment with European standards.

Ambassador Alshemeili expressed the interest of the United Arab Emirates in further enhancing its investment presence in Montenegro, particularly in the areas of tourism, energy, infrastructure and the digital economy, noting that Montenegro is seen as a stable and promising partner in the Western Balkans region. He also expressed support for Montenegro’s European path, assessing that progress in the EU integration process further strengthens the country’s credibility and attractiveness.

The meeting also discussed opportunities to improve transport connectivity, including the strengthening of direct air routes, as well as the potential for cooperation in the fields of information technologies, digital infrastructure and the development of data centres.

At the end of the meeting, a shared commitment was expressed to further deepen bilateral cooperation and continue an intensive political dialogue, with the conviction that the existing friendly relations will be further strengthened through concrete projects of mutual interest.
