DPM Koprivica extends congratulations on Montenegro’s Statehood Day

I extend my congratulations to all citizens of Montenegro on 13 July – Montenegro’s Statehood Day.

This magnificent date symbolises the international recognition of our state and the nationwide uprising against fascism, the greatest evil in human history. It also reminds us that Montenegro’s statehood was not built in a single period or through a single event, but through centuries of struggle for freedom, dignity and the right to decide on our own future.

It is our responsibility to preserve this legacy in a responsible and dignified manner. Respecting history does not mean living in the past, but rather having the ability to build a fairer society and stronger institutions based on our traditions.

Our future is not built on divisions, but on trust. Not on forgetting, but on truth and respect for everything that has led Montenegro towards freedom and development.

May Statehood Day remind us that patriotism is, above all, a responsibility to build a country of strong institutions, the rule of law, freedom, equality, mutual respect and a culture that will remain a legacy for generations to come.
