DPM Koprivica lays a wreath at memorial monument in Velika

Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Judiciary and Anti-Corruption Momo Koprivica today laid a wreath at the memorial monument in Velika, paying tribute to the innocent victims of the Nazi-fascist crime committed on 28 July 1944.

This act represents a commitment to preserving the culture of remembrance and the anti-fascist tradition, fostering historical memory, and paying respect to the innocent victims of one of the most horrific crimes committed against the civilian population in Montenegro during the Second World War.

The innocent victims of the Velika massacre must never be forgotten. By preserving the memory and remembrance of those who suffered, we preserve the truth and dignity.

Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica also highlighted the importance of the Resolution on the Condemnation of the Genocide in Piva and Velika, adopted by the Parliament of Montenegro, reaffirming the state's obligation to nurture a culture of remembrance, ensure non-selective memorialisation of sites where innocent people suffered, and pay lasting tribute to the victims, while clearly condemning Nazi-fascist crimes against the civilian population.
