DPM's Office: Draft Law on Prosecutor's Office translated and sent to EC, progress in Chapters 23 and 24 is essential

The Office of the Chief Negotiator, in the spirit of good and friendly cooperation, submitted to the European Commission (EC) a draft amendment to the Law on the Prosecutor's Office translated into English.

Progress in Chapters 23 and 24 is key to our integration success, and it is not possible with a captured, inefficient, and politically suitable prosecution. Therefore, this Law is the basic precondition for the essential progress of Montenegro in the process of European integration.

We look forward to dialogue and all suggestions from our European partners, but also from the civil sector and all other stakeholders. The proposed amendments to the law are fully harmonized with the proposals of the Venice Commission, but it is also the product of a broader social consensus, which is also necessary for our society in order to implement the reform in a high-quality manner.

Whoever does not understand this or distances himself from the reforms in the prosecution takes responsibility for the lack of essential results in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
