Government and municipalities aligned: Potential concession fee seen as opportunity for major capital projects in Tivat and Zeta
The Government of Montenegro has a clear objective to empower municipalities so they can better meet citizens’ needs and enhance quality of life. Capital investment projects are viewed as a joint mechanism to achieve that goal, it was concluded during a meeting between government representatives and the leadership of the Municipality of Tivat.
In this context, a preliminary agreement was reached that a potential concession fee for the airports could be allocated toward new, large-scale projects in the municipalities of Tivat and Zeta.
It was noted during the discussion that the first necessary step is to complete the tender process, which has been stalled for six years. In the event of a satisfactory bid, all benefits resulting from the conclusion of this important matter should be fully utilized.
It was agreed that further discussions will take place to define specific details, with the ambition of meeting the expectations of local self-governments. There is a shared position that the funds should be used exclusively for capital projects critical to improving the quality of life for the citizens of both municipalities.
Government representatives also announced that a meeting on the same topic will soon be organized with the leadership of the Municipality of Zeta.
