Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović and the UK Special Envoy to the Western Balkans Karen Pierce signed today in Kotor the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Montenegro and the United Kingdom.

This is a very important day for the relationship between Montenegro and the United Kingdom. The Declaration marks a new chapter in our cooperation and reaffirms the strong alliance we share, said Minister Ibrahimović.

Recalling the shared commitment to democracy, peace, and the rule of law, Ibrahimović expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its continuous support in advancing Montenegro’s foreign policy priorities, as well as its proactive engagement in the region.

Through partnerships like this, we build a more resilient society and a safer future for all our citizens, sending a clear message—Montenegro is a credible and reliable partner to the international community, Ibrahimović stated.

Special Envoy Pierce emphasized that today’s signing represents a milestone in strengthening the long-standing relations between the United Kingdom and Montenegro, a relationship both countries deeply value. This Declaration enhances our future cooperation across a wide range of areas—including security, economic development, the rule of law, migration, education, and culture, said added.

She underscored that the United Kingdom, as a close friend and ally, remains fully committed to supporting Montenegro’s European path. Through our role as host of the Berlin Process later this year, we aim to encourage further progress toward this goal and invest additional efforts in fostering regional stability and cooperation, Pierce noted.

In addition to his meeting with Pierce, Ibrahimović also held talks today in Kotor with Kate Ewart-Biggs, Deputy Chief Executive of the British Council. Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the fields of education and culture, with particular emphasis on enhancing digital skills, youth resilience, and promoting shared values through projects in the creative industries.
