Ibrahimović at reception in Paris: Montenegro remains a reliable partner and a strong pillar of European policy in the Western Balkans

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro's independence and ahead of the Statehood Day, the Embassy of Montenegro in France hosted a ceremonial reception in Paris, attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović.

The reception brought together senior officials from French institutions, members of the diplomatic corps, distinguished representatives of the political, cultural and public sectors, as well as members of the Montenegrin diaspora.

In addition to Ibrahimović, the guests were addressed by Montenegro's Ambassador to France Dubravka Lalović, French Minister Delegate for Europe Benjamin Haddad, and Mayor of the 16th arrondissement of Paris Jérémy Redler. In their remarks, they highlighted the importance of the longstanding friendship between Montenegro and France and extended congratulations on the 20th anniversary of Montenegro's restored independence and the country's Statehood Day.

Addressing the audience, Ibrahimović underscored the significance of celebrating two major milestones – Statehood Day and the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro's independence – noting that they best symbolize the country's long tradition of statehood, freedom and European identity.

As we proudly celebrate our past, our eyes remain firmly fixed on our European future – Montenegro as a responsible member of the European Union and NATO, contributing to stability, cooperation and prosperity across the Western Balkans, he said, pointing to strong public support and a clear political consensus in favour of Montenegro's European path.

Ibrahimović described France as a strategic partner and a proven friend, noting that bilateral relations are stronger than ever. He particularly highlighted the significance of the recent visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Montenegro, which opened a new chapter in bilateral relations and paved the way for broader cooperation and a stronger partnership across all areas.

Ibrahimović stressed that Montenegro proudly embraces and upholds European values, demonstrating full alignment with the European Union's Common Foreign and Security Policy and aspiring to serve as a positive example and a strong pillar of stability in the region.

He expressed confidence that Montenegro would become even more visible in France in the years ahead, particularly through stronger cultural ties, a growing number of French visitors discovering Montenegro's natural beauty, and enhanced cooperation within the International Organisation of La Francophonie.

Ibrahimović also expressed his gratitude to the Montenegrin diaspora for preserving their roots and for the valuable contribution they make to Montenegro's development and international reputation.
