Ibrahimović attends session of the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović attended the session of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in its extended format in Brussels. Montenegro’s participation once again highlighted the importance of the “early integration” mechanism, which enables candidate countries to gradually join the European Union’s political processes and strategic discussions.
In his address, Ibrahimović emphasized that the meeting took place at a moment of profound geopolitical transformation, testing the resilience of institutions and the solidarity of the European family. He underlined that Montenegro – guided by its strategic commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic integration – approaches current challenges responsibly, promoting dialogue, partnership, and shared European values.
He placed particular focus on the issue of migration, noting that complex migratory flows require a balanced approach that ensures border protection while fully respecting human rights and dignity. In this context, he expressed gratitude for ongoing cooperation with EU specialized agencies.
Ibrahimović stressed that the rule of law remains at the very heart of Montenegro’s European path, underscoring that an independent and efficient judiciary, equality before the law, and consistent implementation of EU standards are long-term strategic obligations of the state.
Ibrahimović reiterated Montenegro’s clear and unwavering position regarding Ukraine – Montenegro stands with its partners in defending international law, Ukraine’s sovereignty, and territorial integrity. At the same time, he expressed strong support for humanitarian efforts to protect civilians in Palestine, highlighting the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and respect for international humanitarian law.
Concluding his visit to Brussels, Ibrahimović affirmed that Montenegro remains a constructive and reliable partner, committed to strengthening regional cooperation, safeguarding European unity, and promoting peace, justice, and the rule of law as foundations of a shared European future.
