Ibrahimović emphasizes the OSCE’s role in dialogue and European security

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović participated in the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council, held in Vienna under the Finnish Chairmanship.
In his address, Ibrahimović emphasized that, at a time when Europe and the world face increasing security challenges, the role of multilateralism remains crucial for upholding the principles of international law and democratic values.

He underlined that continued unequivocal support for Ukraine is essential for defending international law and a rules-based order, while welcoming diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing a comprehensive, fair, and sustainable peace.
Ibrahimović also highlighted the importance of the Western Balkans for the stability of the wider region, considering the growing security and political challenges within the OSCE area. We are committed to close cooperation with the OSCE and to strengthening stability and resilience in the region, which is one of our key foreign policy priorities. As a frontrunner in the EU accession process, Montenegro is a strong promoter of the human rights, democracy, and media freedom agenda in all multilateral forums, he added.

On the sidelines of the Council, Ibrahimović held several bilateral meetings, including with the Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Țoiu, as well as the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Christophe Kamp. The discussions focused on further enhancing cooperation, strengthening the role of the OSCE, and Montenegro’s European integration.

During the day, Ibrahimović will also participate in meetings of the Friends of the Western Balkans Group of Foreign Ministers and the Western Balkan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, at the invitation of Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.
