Joint action against corruption – APC and National Council sign Memorandum of Cooperation

The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (APC) and the National Council for the Fight against Corruption have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, concluded by Acting Director of the Agency Dušan Drakić and President of the Council Momo Koprivica.
The Memorandum establishes a framework for systematic information exchange, joint activities, and more effective coordination among competent institutions. In doing so, it fulfils one of the key recommendations of GRECO and directly addresses the findings of the latest European Commission Rule of Law Report, which underscores the need for stronger inter-institutional coordination in anti-corruption efforts.
The document defines specific objectives and areas of cooperation, including: strategic planning, information sharing, assessment and mitigation of corruption risks at both individual and sectoral levels, monitoring and evaluation of measures, reporting on progress, a multisectoral approach, and expert support. Concrete cooperation mechanisms have been set out, while both signatories will appoint contact persons responsible for its implementation within 30 days.
By signing this Memorandum, the institutions send a clear message that the fight against corruption is a priority requiring a joint, determined, and coordinated approach. Instead of fragmented efforts, coordinated actions increase system efficiency and confirm strong commitment to the reforms expected by citizens and international partners.
The concluded Memorandum stands as a positive example of how institutional partnership can further strengthen the fight against corruption and encourage closer cooperation with other relevant institutions.
The fight against corruption cannot be the task of a single institution. Only through partnership, joint activities, trust, and transparency can real and sustainable results be achieved in preventing and eliminating corruption – one of the most harmful social phenomena.
