Koprivica hosts Harvard postgraduates: Fight against corruption key to regional development
Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Justice and Anti-Corruption Momo Koprivica held a lecture and open discussion with a group of postgraduate students from the prestigious Harvard University, who are visiting Montenegro as part of the Balkan Trek study programme. Master's and PhD students from 17 different countries are touring the Western Balkans to gain a deeper understanding of the region's political, economic, and social dynamics.
In his address, Koprivica emphasized Montenegro’s strong commitment to building a rule-of-law-based state, combating corruption, and strengthening institutions as the foundation of a stable and democratic society.
Corruption does not fall from the sky – it is the result of individual decisions. Our mission is to eliminate the space for corruption through strong institutions and responsible leadership. On our path to the European Union, we aim to be a positive example for other countries in the region that aspire to join the EU, said Koprivica.
He also highlighted the importance of dialogue with young global leaders and the value of exchanging ideas that can contribute to further democratization and sustainable development of the region.
The students expressed keen interest in the ongoing judicial reforms, anti-corruption measures, and the challenges and opportunities accompanying Montenegro's European integration process.
The lecture was organized with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development, as part of joint efforts to promote sustainable development, the rule of law, and international cooperation.
