Defense Minister Dragan Krapović is participating in the NATO Summit taking place in The Hague, as part of the delegation led by the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović.

On the first day of the two-day Summit, he attended a working dinner in the format of defence ministers, during which discussions were held on deterrence and defence, as well as the continuation of support for Ukraine through NATO mechanisms.

A strong, adequately equipped, and efficient Alliance capable of successfully responding to all current and future security challenges must remain a priority that will guide the further work of all allies, NATO defense ministers stated.

The meeting focused  on increasing defence spending, as complex global trends require continuous investment in capabilities and capacities, as well as modern technology. The new package of Capability Targets, significantly more demanding than the previous one, reflects the real needs of the Alliance to remain credible in the current, very challenging geopolitical moment. The ministers emphasised the need for additional efforts on the feasibility of defence plans, strengthening the force structure, constant improvement of command and control, as well as enhancing  defence industry and cooperation in that area.

Minister Krapović said that Montenegro remains fully committed to fulfilling the decisions made at the NATO Summit. He emphasised that there is political will in Montenegro to reach the defined level of defence spending, which will mean approaching this issue responsibly and dedicatedly. He reminded that our country continuously contributes to strengthening the deterrence and defence posture of the Alliance, especially through the participation of our soldiers in combat groups in Latvia and Bulgaria, as well as activities of enhanced presence on the eastern flank of the Alliance.
