Milica Šljivančanin

Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs

Education

She completed a four-year undergraduate international program in International Relations at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade. During her second year, she received a scholarship from the Government of the Republic of Serbia and participated in an exchange program at Sciences Po Paris (Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris).

After completing her undergraduate studies, she pursued and completed two master's programs:

  • MA in Peace, Security and Development (focus: civil-military relations and international security)
  • MA in International Politics (focus: multilateral diplomacy)

She was awarded a prestigious scholarship for master's studies by the OSCE Mission to Serbia, in cooperation with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), which covered full tuition and enabled further specialization in international relations, with a particular focus on security studies and diplomacy.

In October 2024, she defended her first master’s thesis entitled:
"The Republic of India’s Policy Towards the Russian Federation During Narendra Modi’s Tenure (2014–2024)".

Her second master’s thesis, defended in English in May 2025, was entitled:
"Can Geopolitical Rivals Be Astropolitical Allies? A Case Study of United States–Russian Federation Space Cooperation, 1991–2024".

She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in International and European Studies at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade.

Professional Experience

Internship at the Office for European Integration and Projects, Ministry of Environmental Protection – focusing on the analysis and implementation of EU environmental policies.

Internship at the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia – Committee on Legislation, contributing to legislative initiatives and analysis.

Since January 2022 – Project Associate on MIND (Monitoring and Indexing Peace and Security in the Western Balkans), supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

Academic and Professional Engagement

Participant in the Global Diplomacy Course in Belgrade, focusing on contemporary challenges in international relations, global security, and diplomacy.

Active participation in BIMUN (Belgrade International Model United Nations), enhancing negotiation and decision-making skills.

Chair in the decision-making and negotiation simulation of the EU Council at the Belgrade Model of the European Union (MEU), 2022.

Representative of the Russian Federation at the Belgrade Model of the U.S. Senate (2021/2022), within the Center for U.S. Studies.

Participant in the CEEISA Doctoral Network webinar: “Writing International Relations: A Publishing Webinar with the Review of International Studies” (December 2024).

Participant in the Belgrade Security Conference (November 18–20, 2024) under the theme “In Defense of Humanity”.

Participant in United Nations projects in cooperation with the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana.

Volunteer at CEDEM (Center for Democracy and Human Rights).

Active contributor at the Center for Research, Transparency and Accountability (CRTA).
