State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence and National Coordinator for NATO Krsto Perović is participating in the NATO Summit in Vilnius. Lithania is hosting NATO leaders on 11-12 July.

Perović said that the Vilnius Summit is pivotal for continuation of the Alliance’s transformation and future course of actions. NATO leaders have made important decisions demonstrating Allied commitment to the common goals. Clear and unwavering message of NATO unity and credibility was sent.

Emphasising Montenegro's commitment to the implementation of all tasks, Perović reminded of the country's continuous contribution to NATO deterrence and defence through the deployment of members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro to battle groups in Latvia and Bulgaria.

Having in mind the fact that stable defence investments are crucial preconditions for successful implementation of all NATO tasks, Allied leaders agreed on more ambitious commitment to the defence spending, with 2% of GDP for defence as a floor, not a celling.

Furthermore, the leaders reafirmed strong commitment to the protection of the whole Euro-Atlantic area. They highlihted the importance of the deployment of eight multinational battle groups, supported by Allied forces and capabilities with required level of readiness.

NATO leaders meet in Vilnius to tackle a wide range of topics, from divisions over Ukraine's membership bid and Sweden's accession to boosting ammunitions stockpiles and reviewing the first defence plans in decades.
