PM Krivokapić, Minister Mitrović: Future spatial and urban planning will not be carried out exclusively according to investors' wishes

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić met today with Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ratko Mitrović and his team. The meeting reaffirmed the determination to take into account environmental standards in all areas protected at the international and national level when planning future activities.

Furthermore, the need for coordinated work of ministries within the Government of Montenegro was emphasised, in order for all development activities to be based on the best planning solutions and strategies, which implies a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to all topics of importance for development.

The meeting stressed that the valid and future planning documentation must be harmonised with the real carrying capacity of an area and its protection imperative, which is the basic precondition for Montenegro's sustainable development.

It was said that the spatial and urban planning in the future will not be carried out uncritically and exclusively according to the wishes of investors. Instead, planning solutions will be based on strict adherence to all legal procedures and an optimal relationship between development and protection, which will be determined based on thorough analyzes of needs and real possibilities.

On the eve of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the ecological state of Montenegro, the options of marking the jubilee were discussed, as well as the organisation of events and smaller projects that would be part of the planned programme this year.
