PM Krivokapić - PMQs: Loss of stopping the research, which has started, would amount to around EUR 100 million

"This Government has opted for an ecological state of Montenegro, but not only to proclaim it, but to ensure it. You know that this agreement was signed in 2015, that is, sometime before 2016, and if we look at it, it is one of the rarely good agreements that the previous government made, in terms of using the highest standards," said Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić during the Prime Minister's Question, answering the question from Miloš Konatar, Head of the MP Club "In Black and White".

Prime Minister Krivokapić said that the first pillar of the Government is the green economy, and that, as he said, should be a review of the potential damage, although due to the development of technology we have a very negligible negative impact on the environment.

"The essential question is about direct democracy. I would gladly accept that we resolve any issue that represents a conflict of opinion between the profession, science, non-governmental organizations, and the media in that way. Conducting the classic referendum would cost the state two million euros. The loss of stopping the research, which has started, would amount to around 100 million euros. There are about 1,500 similar wells with different geological structures in the Adriatic," said Prime Minister Krivokapić.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of renewable energy sources, adding that the Government will advocate for everything that is democracy.

"If we can hold a referendum at little cost, I am ready for that. Montenegro cannot provide a biometric-secure e-voting currently. If we had such a referendum at little cost, which is not reliable, I think it would send a wrong message. Can we try it as a test, I am ready for proposal that you think is the best solution. It is not an easy job, it requires good infrastructure, and you know that high-speed internet has not reached many places in Montenegro, which is a precondition that guarantees that every citizen is equal and has the opportunity to express their opinion. We can talk about that, I hope that time will bring the best solution," concluded Prime Minister Krivokapić.
