Press statement by Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of the massacre in Velika, one of the gravest atrocities against civilians in Montenegro's history, when hundreds of innocent women, children and elderly people were brutally killed.

With profound respect, we pay tribute to all the innocent victims, reaffirming our enduring commitment to preserving the historical truth and fostering a culture of remembrance.

By adopting the Resolution on the Genocide in Velika, Montenegro reaffirmed its commitment to honouring the memory of the innocent victims with dignity and to unequivocally condemning every crime.

May Velika remain an eternal reminder that evil must never be relativized, and a lasting pledge that peace, freedom, human dignity and truth must always prevail over hatred and violence.
