Prime Minister Spajić congratulates on Statehood Day

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić extended congratulations to citizens on the occasion of 13 July – Montenegro’s Statehood Day, stressing that, after eight and a half decades, Montenegro continues to reaffirm that national strength and collective progress stem from unity around the most important goals.
Throughout pivotal moments in history, Montenegro, united around the values of freedom, justice and human dignity, demonstrated national pride, maturity and responsibility. At a time when much larger nations and bigger states were preparing to respond to the challenges of war, our ancestors, inspired by the legacy of 1878 and the struggles that preceded it, were the first to rise on 13 July and begin a relentless fight. Their remarkable sacrifice confirmed the immense importance of the values and principles they stood to defend, Prime Minister Spajić said in his congratulatory message.
He noted that it is particularly encouraging that, alongside all the differences that represent the strength and richness of a modern, democratic and civic state, Montenegro can affirm that it is jointly pursuing a common goal, and that, despite the individualism and pluralism inherent in democracy, it has not only declaratively but also genuinely confirmed consensus around a prosperous future.
This is no longer merely our aspiration and a future goal; this is our reality, recognised and highly valued by our strategic partners and sincere friends, the Prime Minister emphasised, adding that the European Commission’s recent initiative, through which the financial package for Montenegro’s EU accession was officially adopted, as well as the responsible conduct of representatives of citizens in the national Parliament, further demonstrate this progress.
Through our actions, we prove that we understand the messages of the most significant dates in our history and hear the voices of generations whose achievements in building a prosperous, fair and socially responsible state, connected with the most advanced European countries, we are honourably continuing, Prime Minister Spajić concluded.
