Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović, along with his team, welcomed representatives from the prestigious Asian Cancer Institute – Cumballa Hill Hospital in India, led by Dr. Rahul Bajpai, Chief Executive Officer, and other members of their management team, including Dr. Ramakant Krishnaji Deshpande and Dr. Hriday Rajiv Thakker, along with their regional representative for the Western Balkans, Savo Jasnić.

During discussions regarding potential collaboration and healthcare development projects, the management of the renowned Indian institute expressed their interest in investing in Montenegro's healthcare system. They are particularly interested in partnering with Meljine Hospital and the Dr. Simo Milošević Institute. This collaboration would involve the engagement of their expert medical staff and potential involvement in the management and ownership structure of these institutions.

Minister Damjanović expressed his satisfaction with the interest shown by an internationally credible healthcare entity in investing in Montenegro's healthcare system. He highlighted the importance of two essential institutions that the government is working on to find the most sustainable and profitable business model. These institutions are not only vital for Montenegro but also earn the trust of developed European markets.

Minister Damjanović emphasized that despite the financial and technical challenges facing these institutions, they continue to possess a skilled workforce. With responsible management, expert assistance of global standards, and strategic investment, they could form the foundation for the future of healthcare and health tourism in Montenegro.

In their constructive discussions, both parties recognized that future collaboration would mutually benefit, resulting in a more efficient healthcare system in Montenegro, enhanced operational capabilities, and clinical excellence at a global level. This would provide the people of Montenegro with adequate and accessible healthcare and reduce the need for citizens to seek medical assistance abroad.

The Indian clinic's representatives, with whom Minister Damjanović held talks, expressed their keen interest in expanding into the Western Balkans market. They explained that their medical team had meticulously surveyed the region and identified a lack of specialized clinics, especially in oncology, health experts, and specific medications.

The Indian doctors, who visited Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina before Montenegro, regard Montenegro as a strategic partner for the entire region. Therefore, they have agreed to organize visits to the aforementioned Montenegrin healthcare institutions for which they have expressed significant interest. Meetings will also involve the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism.

The Asian Cancer Institute – Cumballa Hill Hospital is one of India's most prestigious healthcare institutions, renowned for its medical expertise, especially in oncology, and state-of-the-art facilities that provide healthcare services in line with the highest international standards and innovations.
