Rule of Law Council holds its third session

We must not let down 75% of citizens who want Montenegro to join the European Union, and therefore we will do our best to contribute to the fulfillment of the remaining obligations in the accession process in the field of rule of law, said Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić at the third session of the Rule of Law Council, which was held today.

The session was attended by: Prime Minister and President of the Rule of Law Council Zdravko Krivokapić, Deputy President of the Council, Minister of the Interior and Coordinator of the Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights Sergej Sekulović, members of the Council: Chief Negotiator with the European Union Zorka Kordić , Director of the Police Directorate Zoran Brđanin, Acting Supreme State Prosecutor Dražen Burić, Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić, President of the Judicial Council Vesna Simović Zvicer, Acting President of the Supreme Court Vesna Vučković and a member of the Negotiating Group for the accession of Montenegro to the European Union in charge of Chapter 23 - Judiciary and Fundamental Rights and Chapter 24 - Justice, Freedom and Security and also the Head of the Working Group for Chapter 23 and State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice and Human and Minority Rights Bojan Božović. In addition to the members, the session was attended by Head of the Working Group for Chapter 24 Majda Adžović and Chairperson of the Committee on Political System, Judiciary and Administration Momo Koprivica, at the invitation of the President of the Council.

The members of the Council discussed the upcoming activities aimed at fulfilling the recommendations given by the European Commission at the last intergovernmental conference between Montenegro and the EU, with the proposal of the Roadmap.

In that context, and with the aim of efficient fulfillment of defined obligations, they pointed out the importance of dialogue and close cooperation of all three branches of government, to which the Government is committed.

The session pointed out that the Action Plan for addressing the recommendations from the last EC Report, prepared by the Office for European Integration, will contribute to the fulfillment of the envisaged obligations by June 2022.
