After extensive consultations on how to reach a balanced model that meets the expectations of both trade unions and employers, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić stated today that the Government is close to finalizing a solution on the introduction of a seven-hour workday.

Beginning next week, Minister Naida Nišić will lead discussions with union and employer representatives as part of the ongoing social dialogue. These discussions are expected to define the final version of one of the most ambitious labor reforms in recent years.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the objective of the reform is to improve quality of life for citizens, allow more time for families, and encourage more efficient and productive work practices.

Spajić noted that, just like with the “Europe Now 1” and “Europe Now 2” economic programmes, all steps regarding the work-hour reform will be taken only with the full support of social partners. He expressed confidence that Minister Nišić will do everything to ensure an agreement is reached within a reasonable timeframe to meet citizens’ expectations and enhance the rights and working conditions of employees in Montenegro.
